Zapping Away Gum Disease

laser therapy gum treatmentWith one of our most revolutionary laser tools, we can vaporize the bacterial products and infected tissue associated with gum disease while promoting new, healthy gums to help you save your natural teeth.

Considered by some as the LASIK equivalent of gum surgery, the LANAP® procedure safely and effectively utilizes high-tech laser equipment for precision surgical results.

LANAP, which stands for laser-assisted new attachment procedure, is the first and only FDA-cleared laser treatment for gum disease. With our PerioLaseMVP-7 laser, we can remove diseased gum tissue without harming healthy gum tissue.

Traditional gum surgery (which we also offer) relies on scalpels to cut out infected gum tissue, as well as stitches (sutures) to close the areas where the infected gum tissue was removed.  LANAP is less invasive, faster and more comfortable compared to traditional gum surgery.

More About LANAP

The laser only targets infected gum tissue and bacterial products while leaving healthy tissue untouched. About the size of three human hairs, the laser then seals up the “pockets” where the disease was present. We create a clean, closed, stable environment that allows for healing to begin. You can read more about the process here.

While not a routine finding, with LANAP we often see regeneration of bone support for teeth previously weakened by periodontal disease too!

With LANAP, we can often treat an entire mouth in one or two visits, with patients often returning to work and normal activities the same day. Our doctors are leaders in laser gum surgery and will treat you with the compassion you deserve.

The LANAP procedure:

  • Is extremely precise, targeting only infected gum tissue
  • Affords less sensitivity after the procedure compared to traditional surgery
  • Kills the bacteria that cause gum infections
  • Is very safe
  • Allows for a quicker recovery time
  • Means there’s no need to stop blood thinners
  • Is overall faster than traditional surgery

Discover if you are a candidate for this revolutionary treatment by arranging a consultation with one of our dental experts. We’ll carefully evaluate your medical and dental situations to see if LANAP is the best way to save and restore teeth that may have been considered otherwise “hopeless” in the past. You do not need a referral to see one of our fabulous specialists.
