Dr. Jeffrey Ganeles is one of our country’s most recognized periodontists and dental implant surgeons. He has authored over 50 professional articles and texts, given more than 100 invited presentations to dentists and specialists, and taught at many academic institutions in the United States and abroad.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Ganeles has been an innovator focused on developing better, faster, more efficient and less traumatic methods to obtain great, long-lasting results for patients. This has included developing and implementing new technology, and creating innovative practice styles, procedures and tools.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, he graduated valedictorian of his class at Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, then was awarded a research position and received specialty training in Periodontics and a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Pennsylvania College of Dental Medicine. After starting practice in Washington, DC, he moved to Florida and joined (what was to become SFCPID) in 1990.
Dr. Ganeles has earned many honors and awards, including becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1993. He has re-qualifed several times since then, becoming certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery in 2019.
He is one of the founding faculty members at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, where he teaches post-doctoral residents. He also holds an appointment at Boston University and previously taught at Georgetown University and the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland.
Dr. Ganeles is believed to have performed the first immediate loading dental implant procedure on primetime television on February 12, 2004, when he treated a patient who received dental implants and immediate fixed teeth on the ABC television show Extreme Makeover. He also was the implant consultant and dental implant surgeon for UK Channel 5’s Brand New You in 2003-2004.
Along with his partner, Dr. Fred Norkin, Dr. Ganeles was a founding member of a national network of dental specialists called TeethToday®. The goal was to promote and perfect dental implant procedures so patients can efficiently have tooth replacement throughout the USA. The intellectual property of this group was purchased by a major dental implant company for widespread implementation in 2017.
Additionally, he and Dr. Norkin are believed to be the first dental surgeons to use navigation-guided implant surgery in the United States in 2002 using DenX computer guidance. He is the first dental surgeon in the world to perform robotic guided dental implant surgery using Neocis Yomi in 2016. The Yomi Robot Assisted Dental System is the first and only FDA-cleared, state-of-the-art robotic device for implant dentistry. All the doctors in the practice use this system to complement their clinical expertise with repeated surgical precision.
When not focused on professional activities, he is an avid snow skier, traveler, photographer and mediocre golfer. He is married and has two grown children.
