Targeting Known Barriers to Oral Health Care

Older Woman SmilingAccording to nonprofit health policy pollsters KFF, millions of adults in the U.S. have English proficiency that negatively affects their experiences in healthcare settings. This language barrier can mean unnecessary stress and anxiety even before stepping foot in an office. The challenges of discussing pain and symptoms, treatment plans, medical histories and understanding post-treatment instructions can cause individuals to avoid needed oral care.

We Speak Your Language

At South Florida Center for Periodontics & Implant Dentistry, 60% of our gum disease and dental implant doctors, periodontal hygienists and support staff are fluent in Spanish. Additionally, one of our doctors is also fluent in French.  If you or a loved one find language a barrier to your treatment, you’ll be happy to know we probably speak your (best) language.

For Severe Dental Anxiety

In addition to language difficulties, anxiety and fear can also create barriers to care. Individuals may avoid important treatments and procedures due to dental anxieties as well as physical and mental limitations.

We address dental anxieties with popular sedation options like nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and oral (conscious) sedation via pills. We also offer IV sedation administered by Dr. Zfaz, a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology. Sedation options allow fearful patients to receive safe and effective gum disease treatment or dental implants. The hardest step is deciding to walk through our door. We’ll take care of the rest!
