It’s been a lucky 13 years since Monica Savalli, RDH, joined our team of periodontal hygienists here at South Florida Center for Periodontics & Implant Dentistry.
Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Monica initially attended a South American dental college where, through rotations, she soon realized that she wanted to specialize in periodontics.
“All of my patients are dear to me, and some of them have even been seeing me since I started here which has allowed us to build great relationships over the years,” she says. “I’m able to be a friend, but one who also shows them how they can maintain and stabilize their oral health, not just by ensuring that they understand x-rays and tools we use but also by demonstrating what they might be doing better at home.”
Monica notes how much the practice has grown since she first started.
“We’re bigger and better with more doctors and hygienists compared to when I started,” she says. “But one thing is the same, which is the way we always somehow find even more ways to best serve our patients.”
Out and About
A recipient of Employee of the Month here twice this year, Monica’s busy schedule extends well beyond her full-time position with us. She and her husband, John, are constantly on the go with their two busy daughters, Sophia (12) and Isabella (8), both currently involved in soccer and ice skating. A Yorkie named Mia adds to the fun mix.
Monica also participates in a team triathlons where she runs, the last one this past May. Proceeds benefit Catholic charities, another important focus for her. When time allows, the family enjoys vacationing in sunny destinations outside of Florida.
“We love the beach here and everywhere but often end up just relaxing by the pool!”
